Hello! I am Mark, I have been coming along to the Coves Reservoir Green Gym for 8 weeks now. Despite it being rather drizzly this week the Coves Reservoir Green Gym was in session. Litter picking and biorecording was the order of the day and much litter was picked! Ten whole bags were filled and left for Inverclyde Council to retrieve, before we settled down for a well earned cuppa by the reservoir.
Our good friend ‘Kelly Kettle’ wasn’t with us today, but we made good with a thermos (and Jaffa Cakes to keep us going!) as well as taking the chance to ooh and ahh at some of the reservoirs newest (and cutest) residents.
A Butterfly Orchid, with its delicate white blooms (right).
The Northern Marsh Orchid with its lovely deep purple flowers, recently mentioned in a local newspaper article (below).
Lastly we spotted a lone clump of the beautiful yellow iris growing happily in the wet meadow.
Next week it’s time to break out the bow saws and loppers again as we thin out some more woodland to let the trees breathe. See you next time!
