Coves Reservoir is a lovely place, and we’re not the only ones that think so! Every day you can find people out cycling, walking their dogs or just enjoying a stroll around. Last week the green gym was cutting back some of the undergrowth – this week it was times to reclaim some of the paths by clearing out encroaching grass.
One of the paths most in need of work was quite far away from our usual meeting spot, so Rebecca parked the trusty green gym van at a more accessible spot, and we unloaded our tools and got to work!
Even in the west of Scotland, the summer sun can be quite harsh so we made sure we had plenty of sunscreen and water on hand (along with midge repellent)
Path widening was the main order of business, but high summer is also a good time to see butterflies and Rebecca had brought along her net.
Unfortunately we were only able to catch one – they’re more nippy than you think!
Thanks to Rebecca’s handy ID guide we were able to identify it as a Ringlet.
While we only caught one butterfly, we did snare this beautiful Damselfly, just as we were heading home.
Next time we’re going to get creative with some tree cookies and paracord – Check out the next blog to see how we get on!
